SHE WANTED UNIQUE EYES… NOW SHE MAY LOSE HER SIGHT FOREVER

In 2020, Belfast mother of five Anaya Peterson decided to tattoo her eyeballs blue and purple after being inspired by a tattoo model she saw online. At first, she loved the dramatic look and believed it made her feel more confident and different from everyone else.

But months later, everything changed.

Anaya woke up one morning with her face severely swollen and her vision rapidly deteriorating. Doctors diagnosed her with tattoo sarcoidosis — a rare autoimmune reaction believed to be linked to the ink injected into her eyes. Since then, she’s reportedly needed steroid eye drops multiple times a day and faces a high risk of glaucoma and permanent blindness.

What made the story even more emotional was something her family never forgot…

Before the procedure, her five-year-old daughter begged her not to do it, telling her she was scared her mum would go blind someday. Years later, Anaya admitted those words still haunt her.

Today, she says she struggles to recognize faces from a distance and warns others to think carefully before altering their bodies in extreme ways. Her story has sparked massive debate online — with some defending personal freedom, while others call eyeball tattooing far too dangerous.

Would you ever risk your eyesight for body modification or beauty?
