RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) – One person is injured after a school bus was involved in a collision with an 18-wheeler on Highway 49.
The crash happened on Monday around 6:43 a.m. on Highway 49 and Eagle Post Road.

Authorities said there were no students on the Rankin County School District bus at the time of the crash.
Florence Police Chief Brad Burns said the bus driver was starting his route when the collision occurred.
The person was taken to a local hospital after sustaining injuries. The driver’s condition is unknown at this time.
Emergency personnel have responded to the scene, along with the Florence Police Department and the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department.
According to MDOT, the right southbound lane of Highway 49 at Eagle Post Road is blocked due to the crash.
The Florence Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
