BREAKING: A California mother has been charged with manslaughter after her 14-year-old son struck and killed an 81-year-old Vietnam veteran while riding an illegal e-bike.
Tommi Jo Mejer, 50, was repeatedly warned about the risks of her son riding the illegal e-motorcycle.
Her son allegedly hit Ed Ashman, 81, in Lake Forest and then fled the scene.
Deputies say Mejer admitted buying the bike and knowing her son rode it recklessly. Prosecutors also allege she gave false information to investigators afterward.
