HEARTBROKEN WIFE FILES FOR DIVORCE AFTER MAIL-IN DNA TEST REVEALS HER 2-YEAR-OLD SON ISN’T HERS — DESPITE THE FACT THAT SHE GAVE BIRTH TO HIM IN A HOSPITAL IN FRONT OF ELEVEN PEOPLE
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Marion County Family Court received a divorce petition this week from a 31-year-old woman who claims her marriage “can no longer continue” after an at-home DNA test informed her that her toddler son, Mason, “does not share her genetic material,” a result she has accepted, despite personally delivering the child via unmedicated birth in September of 2023.
Sierra Westmoreland filed against her husband, Tyler, 33, citing “biological betrayal” and “a deception that spans an entire pregnancy.”
According to court documents, Westmoreland submitted a cheek swab from Mason along with her own to a mail-in DNA company “just for fun.” When the result came back “inconclusive,” she reportedly burst into tears and said, “I knew something was off.”
The filing lists the following grievances:
“Suspicious” similarities between Mason and Tyler’s sister
Mason’s eye color, which is “not in her Pinterest mood board”
A feeling she had in the third trimester “that something was wrong”
Tyler’s refusal to “take the results seriously”
A nurse at the delivery who “gave her a weird look”
Tyler, reached at the couple’s home, told deputies, “She was there. I was there. The baby came out of her. I have video.”
Her attorney argued that “modern science does not lie” and that his client was “a victim of something, even if we are still working out what.”
Marion County Judge Helena Marquette reviewed the filing and admitted she had “read it twice and left the room once.”
“In 29 years, I’ve seen affairs, fraud, and a man who tried to divorce his wife over a parking spot,” Judge Marquette said. “This is the first petition citing a $49 cheek swab as grounds to undo a pregnancy.”
Tyler declined further comment. Mason, present in the courtroom with Goldfish crackers, also declined to comment.
She carried him for nine months.
She let a QR code convince her otherwise.
