What Changed at This Year’s Awards?

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, established more than three decades ago, have officially been renamed the Actor Awards. The updated title reflects the name of the ceremony’s signature trophy, which has long been known as The Actor.
In its official explanation, the organization said the change is designed to make the show’s purpose clearer for audiences in the United States and abroad. By centering the name on actors in film and television, leaders described the shift as a natural step forward for the next phase of the ceremony.
With the new name now official, all eyes turned to the red carpet.
