Former Greene Co. office manager arrested for embezzlement, auditor’s office says

GREENE COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) – The Office of the State Auditor has arrested a former office manager at Southeast Greene Water Authority for embezzlement.

State Auditor Shad White says that Deborah Harper was arrested by special agents with the OSA for allegedly embezzling funds belonging to the water authority for her own personal use.

White says that Harper is accused of receiving cash payments from new customer water agreement forms and would convert the forms for her own personal use. She is also accused of utilizing water user payments from other account holders to satisfy the water debt for both herself and her daughter.

Harper faces up to $25,000 in fines and up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
