Tallahassee, FL — A 34-year-old Tallahassee woman is facing disorderly conduct charges after calling 911 from inside an Olive Garden on North Monroe Street on Saturday evening following a dispute with management over the structural limits of the Never Ending Pasta Bowl, a promotional offering she had interpreted as a legally binding and mathematically unlimited commitment.
Olive Garden disagrees. Tiffany Moreau, 34, does not care what Olive Garden thinks.
According to the incident report Tiffany had been seated since 5:45pm and had consumed seven bowls of rigatoni with meat sauce before her server informed her that the kitchen was asking if she would like to consider a different menu item going forward.
She would not. According to the filing what followed included:
A formal request to speak to a manager regarding the definition of the word never
A printed screenshot of the Olive Garden promotional page Tiffany had brought from home
A eleven minute argument in which she read the word never aloud multiple times for emphasis
A second request to speak to a regional manager the general manager confirmed he could not produce
One 911 call Tiffany described as absolutely warranted under the circumstances
Responding officers arrived to find Tiffany at the table with her phone, her printed screenshot, and an eighth bowl she had requested while waiting for police and been denied.
She told officers the word never appeared in the promotion without asterisk, footnote, or qualifying language of any kind and that she had budgeted her entire Saturday evening around this understanding. She described the kitchen’s position as false advertising, breach of contract, and a personal attack delivered through pasta.
Officers reviewed the menu. Officers explained this was a civil matter. Tiffany asked if they wanted to see the screenshot. They had already seen the screenshot. She showed them anyway.
She was cited for disorderly conduct and escorted from the premises. She left the screenshot on the table. The never ending pasta ended. Tiffany has retained counsel.
